What has gone into Phase One?

£5 million for the building costs

£1.5 million for new equipment and the art programme

£300,000 for a covered walk way outside of the hospital

The Noah’s Ark Appeal has touched the hearts of children and adults, the famous and not-so-famous from around Wales and as far away places as Kuwait, the USA, Dubai and even Bosnia. Shark-diving, rowing across the Atlantic and TV’s ‘I’m a Celebrity…get Me Out of Here!’ have all featured among the more hair-raising activites. Children have danced, toddled, dressed-up, remained silent, made chocolate cakes, made badges and lined the street in their thousands to cheer Ian Botham and fellow celebrities…all in the name of the Noah’s Ark Appeal.

When will the building work start on Phase Two?

The building work has officially started as the decamp village that will temporarily house patients and services from the old wards is currently being built. This will enable the old wards to be demolished to make way for state-of-the-art phase two of the Children’s Hospital for Wales.

When might patients first be admitted to the completed Phase Two?

Why is the Noah's Ark Appeal still needed?

The Noah’s Ark Appeal is the official charity that exists to provide support to the Children’s Hospital for Wales. We ensure that your hospital has the most up to date equipment and resources available so that the children receive the very best of care from our world-class medical teams.

While we are not funding Phase Two in the same way we built phase one, without us there will be no MRI scanner and the hospital will have to make do with whatever equipment it has no matter how out of date. Without us, there will be no hydrotherapy pool and many children in great need each week will be denied this treatment that can drastically aid recovery.

When we completed Phase One of the hospital, we continued to support the patients, families and staff at the Children’s Hospital for Wales – see here for how we helped since Phase One, thanks to our supporters.

Read what the staff and families think of the Noah’s Ark Appeal and those that give their support to us in the Meet the Patients page.

How can I help?

Without our supporters, the Noah’s Ark Appeal could not help the sick children of Wales. Your support, however it is given, is a gift to the children in our hospital and we are most grateful.
