Welcome to the Children’s Hospital for Wales
Story: What's it like to spend Christmas in hospital?
Whether you are about to become a patient, you know someone who is being treated or you are one of the Noah’s Ark Appeal's many wonderful supporters that has helped to build this amazing place, we hope that this section gives you a little insight into the magic behind the doors.
At the Children’s Hospital for Wales, wonderful work happens each day by a first class medical team and all the people that are behind the scenes. When the Noah’s Ark Appeal started its campaign to build phase one of the hospital, we shared the vision that the building should be all about children. The hospital is light, bright and colourful. From the interactive art in reception, to the many other fun features of the Children's Hospital for Wales there is always lots to do.
Playrooms are full of games and fun. Our specialist play therapists help children learn about operations and procedures through play…and if it’s not possible to make it to the play room then the play comes to the bed so no one misses out. For children who are of school age, every effort is made so that no one falls behind. The education room, equipped with a range of technology that is inclusive to all that use it, is one way in which the hospital supports the children.
At patient bedsides there is TV, radio, the internet and games to keep boredom at bay and it's completely free to use.
Parents and carers are looked after too. There are pull-down beds, hidden in wardrobes during the day, in which to spend the night next to their child. There are lounges to have quiet time, eat or chat to other families.
The Children’s Hospital for Wales staff are just wonderful – just look at the boards on the wards bursting with thank-you cards.
The best way to look around is by clicking on our Hospital Gallery. If you have any questions then please get in touch enquiries@noahs-ark-appeal.org or take a look at our Questions & Answers page.
The best way to understand what the hospital means to those that have needed it is to listen to their stories. These are just a few of the many thousands of stories we could tell.
We would like to thank the many thousands of people, organisations, schools and companies that have helped us to create Phase One of this special hospital . Please keep giving your help as we move into the campaign to support Phase Two of the hospital.
NEW: Find out about our new critical care campaign, launched by Charlotte Church, and meet Anya, a patient who benefitted greatly from the facilities at the Children's Hospital.
