The Noah’s Ark Appeal has raised over £11 million through tremendous public support.
Together we have built phase one of the very first Children’s Hospital for Wales and kitted it out with the very latest equipment. It is a fantastic, world-class facility, full of colour and child-friendly with treatment, family and play rooms.
Phase One helps children with medical conditions and children with cancer. We have also provided funds to enable the first teenage trust cancer unit to be built, given hundreds of thousands of pounds to buy specialist eye equipment, and replaced outdated equipment in an adolescent wards.

Since the first patient was admitted in 2005, the Noah’s Ark Appeal has campaigned for the hospital to be completed; we want the many thousands of children each year needing surgery and those in intensive care to have the same first-rate facilities and now that will happen.
The money to build and run the completed hospital has now been agreed although we know that bricks alone do not make the very best children’s hospital that we can provide for our children. Phase 2 will require state-of-the-art equipment vital to treat children.
With your help, the Noah’s Ark Appeal will raise £4 million. This will include:
- Vital equipment for the new paediatric critical care unit: ventilators, pumps, and haemofiltration machines and bedside computers to receive information from laboratories are just some of the items needed in this combined intensive and high dependency care unit.
- A super-conducting ‘open’ MRI scanner will minimise the need for sedation. Our children’s hospital will be the first in the UK and only the second in Europe to have this special MRI scanner. Parents will be able to lie next to their children during the scan. The open machine, with no sides, has a screen, music and a choice of colours making it a child-friendly experience. This technology alone will cost in excess of £1.5 million.
