MedSoc Diagnosis: Two Thousand Pounds
Medical students of Cardiff University’s MedSoc or Medical Society raised two thousand pounds for The Noah's Ark Appeal. The money was raised through a variety show called Anaphylaxis - meaning “no brain” - a series of sketches that involved making a mockery of the students’ lecturers! We are sure the lecturers didn’t mind – once they knew the money raised was going to a good cause, that is!The students charged admission to the variety show and raised this fantastic sum of money. They even managed to get hold of a novelty cheque especially for the presentation to the Appeal!
Dr Roger Verrier Jones, a retired paediatrician, was present on behalf of The Noah's Ark Appeal, and is a former president of MedSoc. He said, “I really enjoyed my time as president and I hope the society continues for as long as possible.”
Representing the MedSoc were: Jason O’Neill (current president), Emily Burrow (treasurer), and Amy Stimpson (member).
Suzanne Mainwaring, Appeal Director, said, “Studying to become a doctor is an incredibly long and stressful process, and we are thrilled that the students have taken time out of their study schedule to raise funds for us.”
