First Patients Admitted to Children's Hospital for Wales

The first patients to use the brand new Children's Hospital were admitted to the dedicated paediatric healthcare facility, the first of its kind in Wales, on 25th February 2005.

The children's hospital's first patient was 21-month-old Hussain Khalid, who was admitted to the Land Ward having been treated at the University Hospital for Wales since his birth.

Lyn Jones, Chairman of Trustees of the Noah's Ark Appeal said:

"It is a dream come true to see the hospital that the people of Wales have worked so hard for, finally in use."

He added, "But our work cannot stop there. We now have to concentrate on fundraising for the second phase of the development and to maintain the world-class standards that our fundraising has enabled us to provide. We want the very best for the children of Wales , and we want to make sure that goes in to the next phase."

The Children's Hospital for Wales will be officially open in Autumn 2005.
