Alec Thomas (7) Saphia Aburas (8) Nicole Harris (7) and Idris Galloon (7) met with Percy Montgomery, Charity Champion of the Noah's Ark Appeal who gave them a guided tour of the ground floor ward.

The school was picked at random to meet up with Percy and view the site.

Kitted out in hard hats and high visibility tabards, the children looked at plans for the hospital, watched the builders hard at work and were then interviewed by ITV Wales News.

Teacher Yvonne Scott said how much the children had been looking forward to meeting the Gwent Dragons star player who signed T shirts for the children and for the school's future fundraising events. They enjoyed supporting the Noah's Ark Appeal and seemed more than happy making their television debuts.

Suzanne Mainwaring, Director of the Noah's Ark Appeal said 'Monty is brilliant with children, telling them jokes and chatting to them with great ease. They enjoyed asking him about his rugby and South Africa. All the children are looking forward, as we all are, to seeing phase one of the hospital completed by the end of this year. Schools across Wales have played a vital part in funding the hospital and it is great to let pupils have a behind the scenes look at the construction.'
