Bring a Pound to Work Day 2004 Raises Over £50,000

Real Radio presented the Noah's Ark Appeal with a cheque for a whopping £50,000 at the Children's Hospital for Wales on 17th May.

The proceeds from Bring a Pound to Work Day, which took place in November, were raised by the 537 companies across South Wales that each asked their employees to donate £1 to the Appeal.

"We're thrilled that Bring a Pound to Work Day 2004 was such a great success.  We are so grateful to every company and individual that took part on the day, to the volunteers who gave up their time to help collect the money from each company and, of course, to Real Radio for organising the event" said Roz Robinson, Community Relations Manager for the Noah's Ark Appeal.

The Noah's Ark Appeal accepted the cheque for £50,000 in the Sky Ward Playroom, which was sponsored by Real Radio.

"The response we received from our listeners was amazing," said Real Radio Breakfast Show Presenter, Steve Clark. "It's fantastic to be here in the Real Radio Playroom and see how much the kids are enjoying having up-to-date toys and games to play with. It really is a privilege to be a part of it."

Barclays Bank, who provided the banking facility on the day, topped up the money raised by match-funding their employees' fundraising to round-up the total to £50,000.

On the day, Real Radio also invited listeners to text in song requests for £1, which will be added on to the total and given to the Appeal in the next few weeks.
