Tesco Reaches £500,000 Target

TESCO logoStaff from Tesco stores across Wales gathered in Newport on 11th June to present a cheque to the Noah's Ark Appeal.

The grand total of £500,000 was the result of twelve months fundraising.

Tesco Chief Executive, Sir Terry Leahy said "I am proud to present this cheque on behalf of all of the Tesco staff in Wales who helped raise funds for such a great cause. The level of commitment and activity from those involved has been inspirational.

"At Tesco we always aim to be part of the community in which we serve and there is no better example of this than the fundraising efforts of our staff from our stores accross Wales."

Lyn Jones, Chairman of Trustees at the Noah's Ark Appeal congratulated the Tesco employees. "This has been a remarkable fundraising effort and it has been a very great pleasure to work with you all."

"Tesco has made an outstanding contribution to the new Children's Hospital for Wales. A ward in the new hospital will be named after the store, which will be a fitting testament to the wonderful achievement by the staff of Tesco stores across Wales."
