By signing up to Payroll Giving you’ll really be working for a good cause! It’s one of the easiest and most tax effective way to donate to the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity.
Payroll Giving is a flexible scheme which allows anyone who pays UK income tax to give regularly and on a tax free basis. Donations made this way are deducted before tax so for example, a donation of £10 per month costs the basic rate tax payer £8.00 (the taxman pays the rest!). For higher rate taxpayers Payroll Giving is the only way you can pass on your 40% or 50% tax to us.
Why should I give through my payroll?
Payroll Giving is an easy, tax-effective way to give, so it costs you less to give more. It’s also a very valuable and long term source of revenue which provides us with a regular income to help us budget and plan ahead more effectively. It also means that we don’t have to spend additional money to raise money if we can rely upon your gift being received automatically.
What do I need to do?
If your employer already offers Payroll Giving all you need to do is complete a mandate which is usually obtained from your payroll or HR department.
Your employer will forward your completed form to the Payroll Giving Agency (PGA) and deduct from your pre-tax salary the total amount you want to give. Your donation is forwarded monthly to the PGA and they then distribute the gift each month to the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity.
What does my employer need to do?
If your employer does not already have a Payroll Giving scheme in place, don’t worry – it’s quick and easy to set up. Employers simply need to sign an agreement with a Payroll Giving Agency. This is a legal requirement and provides an audit trail for HM Revenue and Customs because you are getting tax relief on your gift.
